Major 2014 Planetary Aspects Affecting Your Life

Slower-moving outer planets are not always keenly felt in individual charts, but they tend to define eras and generations. If you keep up with astrology beyond just glancing at your personal horoscope, you're probably aware that the major aspect affecting the 2014 year of Horse as well as years 2012-2015 is the square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. The type of world events we've been seeing and experiencing of the early part of this decade are all manifestations of this era-defining aspect.

2014 Challenging Aspects

We will continue in 2014 to get a large dose of sudden change, technology, freedom and rebellion (Uranus) in expressed through often combative individualism (Aries) versus manipulation, underhanded dealings and covert control (Pluto) as they exist in established authority (Capricorn). Although these forces will continue to cast a shadow during most of 2014, they will intensify when the orb between the planets becomes closer. These periods will occur from March 12 to May 24 and again from November 4 through the end of the year. The square becomes exact twice during this year: first on April 21-22 and again on December 12.

Jupiter will cast its enlarging influence on the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square during 2014. Jupiter in Cancer will oppose Pluto in Capricorn. This aspect will be in orb from January 17 to February 18, becoming exact on January 31. An interesting element that could affect this Jupiter-Pluto opposition is that Venus will go direct one degree from Pluto as this occurs. Planets tend to gain an added level of intensity when they switch directions. News involving women, sexuality and relationships will probably play a key role in headlines at this time.

The largest planet will also form a square to Uranus in Aries from February 6 until May 10, with the aspect becoming exact on February 26. Its opposition to Pluto comes into orb again from April 1-May 4.

Jupiter tends to magnify whatever it touches, so the already volatile Uranus-Pluto square could potentially grow larger. Since Jupiter is in Cancer as this happens, expect issues related to women, the past and the concept of home to gain prominence in early 2014. Jupiter in any sign tends to emphasize courts/legalities, journalism and publishing as well as long-distance travel. Anyone whose natal chart contains angles or planets around 9-13 degrees in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) may experience these kind of events on a more personal level.

2014 Harmonious Aspects

Jupiter will exert the more beneficial side of its influence when it forms a trine with Chiron in Pisces from April 27 to May 27. Jupiter will also form a trine with Saturn from May 16 until June 1. Then Saturn will also trine Chiron from May 19-August 27. This means that there will be a Grand Trine in water involving Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces from May 19-27. This can promote healing, generosity and reconciliation. Given the planets and signs involved, progress is most likely to occur in issues related to senior citizens and authority figures as well as issues such as water rights, sea life and oceanography.

Check your personal chart to see which houses contain 16-20 degrees in the water signs. You may find you have an opening to resolve some longstanding tension or obstacle in those areas due to the friendly influence of these three planets trining each other. You are most likely to feel this helpful influence if the angles of your chart are near these regions, or if any of your natal planets are placed here.

Jupiter continues to form harmonious aspects in the fall and winter of 2014. This will create openings for generosity and good fortune to balance out the ongoing pressure of the Uranus-Pluto square. About six weeks after moving from Cancer into Leo, Jupiter will form a trine with Uranus in Aries from mid-September into October. This will then become a Grand Fire Trine when Mars in Sagittarius joins the party. Around the time of the lunar eclipse, this Grand Trine will in turn become a kite formation, as both the North Node and the Sun in Libra sextile Jupiter and Mars while opposing Uranus. The North Node is associated with reaping past good karma.

A window for positive transformation arrives with a sextile between Pluto and Chiron in Pisces, the asteroid named for the wounded healer centaur. This aspect will occur from October 30 through the end of the year. Since this will overlap with Uranus-Pluto again becoming exact in December, the positive influence of this aspect may soften the edges or even bring a healing direction to the square.

With 2014 being the year of the Wooden Horse and given all these astrological circumstances, it seems that this year will be a good one - a year of change and accomplishments.

I'm sure glad Pluto still gets mention in planetary actions. Poor downgraded thing.

Ceres and Our Inner Emotional Life

Ceres connections in synastry can reveal how one person accepts (or doesn’t) their partner’s nurturing. “Nurturing” is defined as caring for someone, and fostering their growth. Ceres (or Demeter) is named after the Goddess of the crops. She had a daughter (Persephone) and they were close. So close, in fact, that Ceres never wanted to let her go. Then Pluto (or Hades) kidnapped Persephone and dragged her off to the Underworld. Ceres’ grief was intense. In retaliation, she denied mankind their food by making the crops wither and die; she was hurting, so everyone else would as well. A deal was eventually struck with Pluto, and Persephone was allowed to spend part of the year above ground, with her mother. This was when Ceres allowed the crops to grow. When Persephone spent the rest of the year below ground, the crops were dormant. So Ceres’ cycle of growth and loss reflects the cycle of life. In your chart, her sickle-shaped glyph describes how you handle that cycle.Aspects to Cer

When You Should Get Your Birth Chart Done

Have you ever gotten your 'chart done'? In the field of astrology, a 'chart' is a representation that demonstrates the position of the planets, Sun and moon at a particular moment in time. The position of each planet, its movement and relationship with other celestial bodies can give an astrologer insight as to the influences in play at that particular time. There are 5 times in life when you should consider having a chart drawn up. When You Discover Astrology Once you discover the field of astrology, it’s a worthwhile investment to get a natal chart done. Everyone’s chart is unique because a full chart deals with not just your birth date, but the specific minute and location of your birth. Some people try to draw up their own natal charts using a website or book—and while this might give you an accurate plotting of the chart, only someone trained and experienced in astrology can truly interpret it. There is more to interpreting a chart than just reading a l

Essential Oils That are Harmful to Dogs.

On a Saturday night, a dog owner arrived home late and noticed that their dog was acting strange and did not recognize them. The owner initially thought that the dog was experiencing a night terror, but the odd behavior continued into Sunday. Upon realizing that a new diffuser had been running in the home, the owner turned it off, and the dog's condition improved on Sunday afternoon. However, the next day, the dog sitter reported that the animal was hiding under the bed and acting abnormally. The owner left work early to check on the dog and discovered that it was still disoriented and confused. The owner decided to take the dog to the emergency vet, where it was discovered that the tea tree oil used in the diffuser was toxic for dogs. Fortunately, the dog's liver was not damaged, but the animal required fluids to remove the toxins from its system. The vet and poison control specialists advised that they have seen an increase in similar cases as the use of essential oils grows
