Overview of Planetary Movements in June and July

June and July have several planetary shifts in store, each of them influencing to a certain extent our lives and worldview. Referring to some concepts from Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu moved to sandhi degrees on the fifth of June, thus setting the tone for the upcoming two months. We the earthlings will begin to feel the momentum of Rahu and Ketu as they move the former into Virgo and the latter into Pisces on the 12th of July. Although you may feel the need to create major changes in your life, it is better not to rush important decisions and plans. In order to be happy, energized, and successful during the upcoming weeks, you should follow the example of Saturn which is all about going slow and steady.

On the 7th of June, Mercury goes retrograde. This planet is currently in the Gemini sign, with retrograde planets acting like the nodes Rahu/Ketu. Mercury’s being in Ardra for a few weeks as well will lead to a state of mind concerned with desire and cravings. The retrograde motion of Mercury represents yet another period of clearing and cleaning of the mind, a time of communication and of commerce. Pay attention to what needs to be changed over the next three and a half weeks.

Mercury moves quickly which means that it usually doesn't stay in a certain sign for more than a few weeks. Its transit through Gemini will be extended until the 27th of July because of its rewind motion. On the 1st of July, Mercury goes into direct motion. During this period of time, focus on actions that you can take so that you may progress and achieve your goals. Also, take care of all financial aspects of your life: pay taxes, outline financial plans, pay off debts, improve your business, etc. This period can also be a time of creativity and inventiveness, so use it to your advantage.

On the 9th of June, Jupiter moves to the edge of Gemini, preparing for its entrance into Cancer, the sign in which it is exalted. This shift of Jupiter from Gemini into Cancer takes place on the 18th of June. Full Moon is in Scorpio on the 12th of June. Due to these astrological and cosmic conditions, commerce and communication will be an integral part of our day-to-day life.

Mercury retrograde - brace yourselves! Although I have to admit, a surge of creativity would be more than welcome in my life at the moment.

That's all I need right now... Mercury in retrograde to add to my already overburdened nervous system. The opposition of these two (planets? I'm not that familiar with Vedic Astrology) had one in my sun sign (Pisces). Lord only KNOWS what that's going to cause... :^s

Ceres and Our Inner Emotional Life

Ceres connections in synastry can reveal how one person accepts (or doesn’t) their partner’s nurturing. “Nurturing” is defined as caring for someone, and fostering their growth. Ceres (or Demeter) is named after the Goddess of the crops. She had a daughter (Persephone) and they were close. So close, in fact, that Ceres never wanted to let her go. Then Pluto (or Hades) kidnapped Persephone and dragged her off to the Underworld. Ceres’ grief was intense. In retaliation, she denied mankind their food by making the crops wither and die; she was hurting, so everyone else would as well. A deal was eventually struck with Pluto, and Persephone was allowed to spend part of the year above ground, with her mother. This was when Ceres allowed the crops to grow. When Persephone spent the rest of the year below ground, the crops were dormant. So Ceres’ cycle of growth and loss reflects the cycle of life. In your chart, her sickle-shaped glyph describes how you handle that cycle.Aspects to Cer...

When You Should Get Your Birth Chart Done

Have you ever gotten your 'chart done'? In the field of astrology, a 'chart' is a representation that demonstrates the position of the planets, Sun and moon at a particular moment in time. The position of each planet, its movement and relationship with other celestial bodies can give an astrologer insight as to the influences in play at that particular time. There are 5 times in life when you should consider having a chart drawn up. When You Discover Astrology Once you discover the field of astrology, it’s a worthwhile investment to get a natal chart done. Everyone’s chart is unique because a full chart deals with not just your birth date, but the specific minute and location of your birth. Some people try to draw up their own natal charts using a website or book—and while this might give you an accurate plotting of the chart, only someone trained and experienced in astrology can truly interpret it. There is more to interpreting a chart than just reading a l...

What Does the Number 666 Actually Mean

666. The Mark of the Beast, the Antichrist, the Devil’s number. Seeing it strikes fear in the hearts of many, while others find it simply amusing. Whatever your viewpoint, this number always seems to draw attention and controversy. Most commonly associated with the Bible in the Book of Revelations (13:17-18), 666 can be symbolic of many things and have multiple meanings. In the realm of numerology is 666 really all that evil? What’s in a Number? To paraphrase Shakespeare, What’s in a number? That which we call evil by any other number would still be bad. Numbers are often used as symbols, but what really counts is the intention behind them. Numbers in and of themselves are neither good nor bad. It is we who assign meaning to them. After all if you had a winning lottery ticket with 666 on it, would you object? The Many Interpretations and Representations of 666 Either way, numbers can be looked upon for guidance in our lives. The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras was a tr...
