New Moon in Cancer on June 27th

The New Moon in Cancer will occur on the 27th of June. This lunation is all about the waxing and waning of the Moon, which on a symbolical level stands for our lives’ waxing and waning. Therefore, this New Moon can be seen as an organic astrological event. Both the Sun and the Moon are in the same sign, so the New Moon also represents an important energetic threshold for us all.

When a New Moon occurs, it is recommended to perform a ritual. IT doesn’t have to be something extremely complex or grand; the key-element to any ritual is the soul presence you bring into it. One ritual suggestion is to light a candle in the colors of the Cancer sign – white and yellow. You could also light the candle several days before the New Moon actually occurs, because this is how any person should prepare a New Moon ritual -- with the targeted astrological sign in mind (by “the targeted astrological sign” we refer to the Sun sign in which the New Moon occurs).

It is a shamanic practice to be your own companion through time. This practice can be correlated with the Cancer sign which is ruled by Water. Water in its turn symbolizes our origins and emotional roots. Therefore, the New Moon is a great time for you to celebrate your inner child. Find a quiet place, sit still, relax, and look at a picture of you as a child. Focus on your younger self and recall the moment when the picture was taken. As you do this, try to immerse yourself in that memory, try to feel again like your younger self – like a child. After bringing your inner child to the surface, let him/her know that you love him/her and that you wish to protect him/her. This ritual is all about commitment to self-care.

This New Moon, make your home a welcoming comfortable place for you, not only physically, but also emotionally and psychologically. You could declutter your house, burn some sage, remove cobwebs, and so on. Anything that dampens your spirits has to go. Basically, this lunation is an appropriate occasion for a home revival, so that your house becomes more than just the place where you live; it should be a place that nourishes body, mind, and spirit.

Other things that you could do for this New Moon are: to take a ritual bath, to take a walk near the sea or the ocean (if possible), to drink spring water (if there is a spring near to where you live), and to meditate with a water bowl in your hands. As long as you focus on your soul with motherly care, this New Moon will act like a soothing balm for your inner self.

I like the idea of a ritual. Although some perceive it as a negative thing, nowadays the idea of 'ritual' is no longer something bloody and violent. A ritual as a form of self-care is great.

I always like to try for tossing out unwanted/unneeded stuff about the time of a new moon. guess it's a ritual, as in preparing for bedtime, which I do like. Soothes the mind.

Ceres and Our Inner Emotional Life

Ceres connections in synastry can reveal how one person accepts (or doesn’t) their partner’s nurturing. “Nurturing” is defined as caring for someone, and fostering their growth. Ceres (or Demeter) is named after the Goddess of the crops. She had a daughter (Persephone) and they were close. So close, in fact, that Ceres never wanted to let her go. Then Pluto (or Hades) kidnapped Persephone and dragged her off to the Underworld. Ceres’ grief was intense. In retaliation, she denied mankind their food by making the crops wither and die; she was hurting, so everyone else would as well. A deal was eventually struck with Pluto, and Persephone was allowed to spend part of the year above ground, with her mother. This was when Ceres allowed the crops to grow. When Persephone spent the rest of the year below ground, the crops were dormant. So Ceres’ cycle of growth and loss reflects the cycle of life. In your chart, her sickle-shaped glyph describes how you handle that cycle.Aspects to Cer...

Venus in Aquarius: What to Expect

What's Up:   Take note, Venus is in Aquarius from March 5th to April 5th in 2014.  The fresh air whirls around in love and friendship, with Venus in this air sign.  This follows a long, 'heavy' time with Venus in Capricorn (early Nov 2013 to March 5th).  The 2014 March forecast features Venusian behavior, with aspects that free relationships from deeply ingrained patterns.  A key word is freedom, to update our social lives, to align with who we've become and are becoming.  Social Buzz Venus has been under the influence of Saturn, the planet of responsibility while in Capricorn.  Now the love planet has some  breathing room  in this air sign--  what's favored is meeting others in a friendly, detached way. The Venus Aquarius  natives  are restless, and ready to break with convention.  The same tired way of engaging, stilted etiquette and the habits of being  politicall...

The Sun Signs and Friendship

Friendship is an essential part of our lives and sometimes friends matter more than our immediate family and its members. It is said that even the Devil has his own friends. In astrology the 11th house is said to rule friends and their relationships. Astrology gives much importance to relationships like spouses, partners or lovers but friendship related issues are usually shooed off. But in this age where divorce rates are going over the roof friendship is what makes people to remain glued together come what may. Apart from the 11th house, the 4th, 5th and the 7th houses also have their say in friendship. Some astrologers say that the 11th house is a social house. The 3rd-house friendships are with neighbors, the 4th house rules friends with whom we live and are part of the our family, 5th-house friendships are with people we go out and have fun with, 7th-house friends are particularly close and in a partnership, and 9th-house friendships are those we form in educational situatio...
