Overview of Planetary Movements in June and July

June and July have several planetary shifts in store, each of them influencing to a certain extent our lives and worldview. Referring to some concepts from Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu moved to sandhi degrees on the fifth of June, thus setting the tone for the upcoming two months. We the earthlings will begin to feel the momentum of Rahu and Ketu as they move the former into Virgo and the latter into Pisces on the 12 th of July. Although you may feel the need to create major changes in your life, it is better not to rush important decisions and plans. In order to be happy, energized, and successful during the upcoming weeks, you should follow the example of Saturn which is all about going slow and steady. On the 7 th of June, Mercury goes retrograde. This planet is currently in the Gemini sign, with retrograde planets acting like the nodes Rahu/Ketu. Mercury’s being in Ardra for a few weeks as well will lead to a state of mind concerned with desire and cravings. The retrog...

Gemini Sign Overview

The third sign of the zodiac, Gemini is ruled by Mercury which represents intelligence inside matter. The glyph of Gemini symbolizes two pieces of wood bound together. In ancient times this was seen to signify the conflicts arising from contradictory mental processes. Geminis establish their relationship between the self and material substance through a balance of opposing thoughts. This bond may also be interpreted as the link between rhythm and form. Personal Traits The Geminis Interact with the environment, investigate, learn, know and exchange ideas. The intellect dominates Gemini, and all things intellectual are valued greatly by them. As communication is also of importance to Geminis, knowledge is never a thing to be hoarded. Rarely is a Gemini more entertained than in the midst of exchanging ideas with others of an intellectual nature. Being the most versatile of the signs, Geminis are seldom what they seem to be. Chameleon like, they will take a stand, voic...

April Eclipse in Taurus - Mark of Renewal

The Solar eclipse occurs April 28-29 (depending on your location) at 8 Taurus 51, a New Moon that only sextiles Neptune; everything else is outside even a generous orb, with Mercury just days past Superior Conjunction (if this were moving toward the eclipse point I would consider counting it) and Mars, though moving retrograde, outside the orb for a quincunx. That lays it all on Neptune and the Sabian for this eclipse, ‘A Fully Decorated Christmas Tree’. A Solar eclipse is when the Moon arrives at a point just right between the Earth and the Sun, so that the Moon appears to be not just conjunct the Sun, but to be aligned directly between Earth and Sun; our view of the Solar orb is blocked (occulted), at least from particular points on Earth relative to the path of the eclipse. It’s an instance, in symbolic terms, of Lunar sensibilities temporarily blocking the light of the Sun (objective consciousness) from reaching Earth. That suggests that Lunar issues for a time overwhelm Sol...

Planets and Eclipses: 2014 Forecast

Note for 2014:   The eclipses of April 2014 fall at 25 Libra (April 15th) and 9 Taurus (April 28th).  The eclipses of October 2014 fall at 15 Aries (Oct 8th) and 0 Scorpio (Oct 23rd). Look on your birth chart for any direct hits to planets or significant points.  Eclipses and Trailings By looking at where the  Eclipse falls in the Houses, you get a sneak preview of what's to come (or in progress).  And it's also instructive to look at planetary contacts to the eclipse. If there's a conjunction to a natal planet (within 5 degrees), this is the  eclipse ruler. Some astrologers say the last planet aspected by the eclipse, is your main symbolic messenger. An eclipse though, isn't always dramatic or shocking. It's often a subtle, inward, and sometimes profound unfoldment, that happens over a period of time (six months is the rule). Eclipses that aspect the Sun Sun engagement with eclipses are significant miles...

Mercury Resumes Direct Motion

This week the exciting astrological news includes Jupiter resuming its direct motion after four months. This past period astrology commonly describes as driving with the parking brake on. Of course it didn’t make you stop moving forward, but it felt strange, and once it starts gaining momentum, you will come back to knowing better that you can achieve more in the outside world. Aries : Chances are that you’ve been looking at the place where you live for the past couple of months and wonder how much longer you can survive there. You need a bigger space. With this week you can go back to your autumn plans and start envisioning yourself in the space where you will feel more comfortable, and also where you can fit some of your gym equipment. Taurus : If you take a closer look at the network that you have built around yourself, you may find that it’s been pretty slow over the last couple of months. People may have not responded so well to what you had to communicate, and you ...

July 2013 Intense Astrological Outlook

July’s astrology revolves around Mercury, Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune, and Saturn. Throughout the month, Mercury is retrograde in Cancer, if you also take into consideration the period of its retrograde shadow. Mercury’s backward motion changes to direct motion on July 20th and it escapes its retrograde shadow in early August. Some of the probable occurrences during this period are the usual symptoms of missed connections and mechanical breakdowns, along with the inner reflection – also a characteristic of this period – given that our mental process runs backward. Introspection becomes all the more important after realizing that paramount decisions and choices need to be made if life is to continue in a relevant, valuable way. This summer is the appropriate time to analyze core beliefs regarding where your life is taking you – you may be amazed by what you can indeed accomplish once you reorient yourself to soul purpose. Probably the most important characteristic of these current con...
