Chiron's Journey - Then and Now

Our attention has been on the cacophony of the Cardinal Cross of late, but another actor in the solar system has been playing a subtle role in drama of the skies. The asteroid Chiron -- teacher, martyr, medicine man -- has been sextiling Pluto for much of the past three years. Modern astrologers often assign Chiron's rulership to Virgo, the sign of service and healing, citing the centaur of myth, who was a healer and a teacher. This would fit with the actual astronomy. Chiron reaches 0° declination (the equivalent of the Sun at 0° Aries) every 20 years in either Virgo or Pisces. This is  the polarity of the body and the spirit, the 12th and the 6th houses.  Here Chiron's journey ends or begins. Chiron has an erratic orbit, weaving between Saturn, Uranus and Mars. Because of this inconsistency, he spends much, much longer in some signs. So at the two extremes, he stays  in Pisces for about nine years , and in  Virgo for just over one . This certain...

August 2013 Astrology Overview

Chiron, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto occupy the central roles in the Astrology of August. Escaping its retrograde shadow on August 4th, Mercury is currently in direct motion. This represents a major shift in the energy, especially since Mercury will enter Leo right after, by August 8th. Up to this point – and continuing throughout the current month – it has been a powerful time for the Water, or feeling, element, three planets residing under this sign: Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio, and Neptune in its own sign of Pisces. At the beginning of August, Jupiter leaves the trine with Saturn and Neptune, and comes into opposition with transformative Pluto. Then, by the time of the New Moon of August 6th, it enters into square with Uranus. This is configuration is a truly powerful one, marking a time of intuitional leaps and fresh beginnings in the realm of ideas and inventions. Another dose of the feeling element is brought in by the New Moon which strongly aspects Chiron, the Wo...

Tuesday's Difficult New Moon

Tuesday's Leo New Moon is yet another potent lunation in the recent series. The reasons why this occasion in mid-Leo is strong are partly the aspects made to the outer planets from the Sun and Moon, and from Jupiter in Cancer. At the time of the late afternoon New Moon, while the Sun and Moon trine Uranus, Jupiter is exactly opposite to Pluto and the Moon is in parallel with Saturn and Neptune. Given that all the outer planets are activated, the emphasis from the previous month on Saturn and Neptune— which still are in their strong trine connection —  is continued into August, and a touch of a highlighting on the forming Uranus-Pluto square coming up in the fall is added. This leads to experiencing at least a nudge – if not more of a shove – on the part of the universe, meant to determine us to recognize where we have to take a different turn in our lives for constructive change, and get on with it already! On November 1st of this year Uranus and Pluto come once again into their...

Emotional Crisis Moon

Taking place in the last decant of the Libra, Monday evening’s First Quarter Moon is established as a time when the initiating lunar cycle’s tension peaks, leading to a “crisis in action” regarding our attempts to advance in a certain area of our lives. With the Cancer emphasis, and under the reflectively inward orientation of the Cancer Mercury Retrograde period, at this time inner goals resonate with us most strongly as opposed to outer ones. Can you free yourself of outward diversions, thus turning to the inside with love, awareness, and sympathy? It is well said that having a compassionate connection with ourselves – at the deepest possible level – is a prerequisite to being able to reach out to others with compassion. Just like a deep-sea diver, in order to establish a strong connection with ourselves, we need weights to find the depths we seek and to actually go down. The effort put into harvesting the fruit of inner work is well worth it. However, the Moon in Libra wants ba...

July 2013 Intense Astrological Outlook

July’s astrology revolves around Mercury, Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune, and Saturn. Throughout the month, Mercury is retrograde in Cancer, if you also take into consideration the period of its retrograde shadow. Mercury’s backward motion changes to direct motion on July 20th and it escapes its retrograde shadow in early August. Some of the probable occurrences during this period are the usual symptoms of missed connections and mechanical breakdowns, along with the inner reflection – also a characteristic of this period – given that our mental process runs backward. Introspection becomes all the more important after realizing that paramount decisions and choices need to be made if life is to continue in a relevant, valuable way. This summer is the appropriate time to analyze core beliefs regarding where your life is taking you – you may be amazed by what you can indeed accomplish once you reorient yourself to soul purpose. Probably the most important characteristic of these current con...
