The New Moon in
Cancer will occur on the 27th of June. This lunation is all
about the waxing and waning of the Moon,
which on a symbolical level stands for our lives’ waxing and waning. Therefore,
this New Moon can be seen as an organic astrological event. Both the Sun and the
Moon are in the same sign, so the New Moon also represents an
important energetic threshold for us
all.
When a New Moon
occurs, it is recommended to perform a ritual. IT doesn’t have to be something
extremely complex or grand; the key-element to any ritual is the soul presence
you bring into it. One ritual suggestion is to light a candle in the colors of
the Cancer sign – white and yellow. You could also light the candle several
days before the New Moon actually occurs, because this is how any person should
prepare a New Moon ritual -- with the targeted astrological sign in mind (by “the
targeted astrological sign” we refer to the Sun sign in which the New Moon
occurs).
It is a shamanic practice to be your own companion through time. This practice can be correlated
with the Cancer sign which is ruled by Water. Water in its turn symbolizes our origins and emotional
roots. Therefore, the New Moon is a great time for you to celebrate your
inner child. Find a quiet place, sit still, relax, and look at a picture of you
as a child. Focus on your younger self and recall the moment when the picture
was taken. As you do this, try to immerse yourself in that memory, try to feel again
like your younger self – like a child. After bringing your inner child to the
surface, let him/her know that you love him/her and that you wish to protect
him/her. This ritual is all about commitment to self-care.
This New Moon, make your home a welcoming comfortable
place for you, not only physically, but also emotionally and psychologically. You
could declutter your house, burn some sage,
remove cobwebs, and so on. Anything that dampens your spirits has to go.
Basically, this lunation is an appropriate occasion for a home revival, so that
your house becomes more than just the place where you live; it should be a
place that nourishes body, mind, and spirit.
Other things that
you could do for this New Moon are: to take a ritual bath, to take a walk near
the sea or the ocean (if possible), to drink spring water (if there is a spring
near to where you live), and to meditate with a water bowl in your hands. As
long as you focus on your soul with motherly care, this New Moon will act like
a soothing balm for your inner self.
