Sochi Clock Tower's Mysterious Zodiac

The Clock Tower at the Sochi Central Railroad Station has a crazy Zodiac -- here's a close-up image to see for yourself. I finally found this from the Moscow Times: "The zodiac signs are in the wrong order, and some are missing altogether. The architect, Alexei Dushkin, was rumored to be a member of an occult group so the mix-up is not accidental. Only the Leo, Virgo and Libra symbols are in order while Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius are replaced with a swan, snake and hound dogs." Curiously, the architect Alexei Dushkin designed a twin with the same Italian style -- the Railway station in Simferopol, Ukraine. It too has a mixed-up circle of animals. A Ukrainian travel-site explains: But if you pass the railway station of Simferopol, don't miss the anomaly: Virgo, Libra and Taurus were replaced by serpent (Serpentarius), greyhound and swan!" Maybe he had a warped sense of humor, or just wanted to mix things up a bit. A mystery befitting this ti...

North Node and Libra

On the 18th February the North Node enters the sign of Libra and will remain there until November 2015. I use the true node by the way but if you use the mean node, the entry date will be the 22nd March. Regardless of true or mean, this year we experience a spiritual shift of attention as the North Node points the way ahead and triggers a new round of karmic lessons to learn. The transiting North Node represents our collective spiritual task. The last time the North Node was in Libra was from August 1995 to January 1997. It was during these years that we began to embrace connecting with each other online and the United Kingdom gave Hong Kong back to China. Amongst other things, Libra is the sign of agreements and diplomacy. At the other end of the axis, the South Node will move into Aries. The South Node is a point of release. Some call it the Dragons Tail. The South Node symbolises what we have already mastered. In the natal chart it represents the gift of exper...

Which is Correct: Astrologer or Astrologist

I have noticed that there is sometimes confusion over whether the correct professional designation for a person who practices astrology is “astrologer” or “astrologist.” The purpose of this post is to clear up this issue for those who are uncertain. Let’s get the main point out of the way right from the start: Generally speaking, people who practice astrology prefer to be referred to as an  astrologer ,  not  an astrologist. This is the designation that virtually all practitioners of astrology have adopted and prefer. When in doubt, I would always recommend using the word astrologer rather than astrologist. Now, technically “astrologist”  is  an actual word, and it is sometimes used as a synonym for “astrologer.” However, the Oxford English Dictionary says that the word astrologist is " Less common than astrologer and not the preferred term amongst practitioners.” I would estimate that something like 99% of practitioners refer to themselves as a...

Ceres and Our Inner Emotional Life

Ceres connections in synastry can reveal how one person accepts (or doesn’t) their partner’s nurturing. “Nurturing” is defined as caring for someone, and fostering their growth. Ceres (or Demeter) is named after the Goddess of the crops. She had a daughter (Persephone) and they were close. So close, in fact, that Ceres never wanted to let her go. Then Pluto (or Hades) kidnapped Persephone and dragged her off to the Underworld. Ceres’ grief was intense. In retaliation, she denied mankind their food by making the crops wither and die; she was hurting, so everyone else would as well. A deal was eventually struck with Pluto, and Persephone was allowed to spend part of the year above ground, with her mother. This was when Ceres allowed the crops to grow. When Persephone spent the rest of the year below ground, the crops were dormant. So Ceres’ cycle of growth and loss reflects the cycle of life. In your chart, her sickle-shaped glyph describes how you handle that cycle.Aspects to Cer...

Astrology and the Presidency

In the 1970s the cultural historian William Irwin Thompson described Richard Nixon’s resignation as U.S. President as the end of the presidency itself. He believed that Nixon’s departure symbolized a shift in the power of the office rather than just the failure of one man. The idea that leadership in the Oval Office may not be significant corresponds with the transit of transformational Pluto through executive Capricorn from 2009-2023, especially now with revolutionary Uranus coming into a stressful 90-degree square with Pluto. The point is that institutions are changing, including that of the Chief Executive in the United States, regardless of who she or he may be. Thompson’s idea came to mind recently when I looked at the natal charts of Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, the leading candidates for the Republican nomination. Gingrich, unsurprisingly, is a glib Gemini with the Moon in philosophical Sagittarius with both making stressful squares to dreamy Neptune. He also has verb...

Mercury Retrograde: What to Expect in February

If you're open to the cosmic rhythm, there's a good chance you also see into hidden matrices behind appearances. Pisces Moon MLK Jr. said, "Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see." In Step Aside and Reverse the Flow, Zen Gardner writes, "The physical world we experience is proportionately way less in "size" than the tip of an iceberg. This fundamental reality of the hidden realms is where many get stumped. Without grasping the significance of the spiritual influences, the play we're witnessing will never make full sense and will remain to appear as only a two-dimensional chess game." Zen Gardner writes of wierd vibes, and a barrage of negativity, to go along with the electromagnetic stew we're moving in/around. And that Mercury retrograde (in Pisces) is likely amplifying the effect. Pisces brings with it the danger of being pulled under and submerged, in what's swirling around. From Earth-Heal: ...

Sun Signs of Serial Killers

It has been established that zodiac signs directly correlate to the type of crime they are likely to commit; additionally, the sign can, in a way, determine the crime likely to be committed. The zodiac signs are divided into different categories: Fire signs are Sagittarius, Aries and Leo. Of the three, Sagittarius has a higher population of criminals and they are more difficult to capture. The Aries are usually armed, while Leos are usually very dangerous. Another category of the zodiac signs is the air signs. They are Libra, Gemini and Aquarius. Libras have the largest criminal percentage compared to the rest of the air signs. Libras are usually armed and very dangerous. Geminis are involved in fraud crimes. Aquarians usually commit crimes based on revenge. Earth signs are Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus. In this category, the criminals are usually caught. Of the earth signs, Taurus is quite dangerous and usually temperamental. Virgos are also usually armed. Capricorns are ...

Uranus in Aspect to Pluto: How to Be Successful

A few months ago I was asked to express my view of the key issue facing 2014, in as few words as possible.    It took me some pondering, while looking through the difficult aspects still looming over the night sky for the year to zoom into what would make a difference in my opinion.    With Uranus still hanging on to its fingertips to Pluto and Jupiter, and seeing that the results and benefits from these aspects in the past few years, has not been anything spectacular to write home about.    My first impression is that the year will be a roller coaster ride with many highs and many lows.    Full of excitements and thrills and with moments of fear and anxiety instill with the anticipation that something good and successful is around the next corner. Uranus, the co-ruler to Aquarius with the planet Saturn, is considered the higher spiritual octave of Mercury.    The planet is associated with change, revolution, invention, inspirat...

Mercury Retrograde in 2014

Mercury goes retrograde February 6 2014 and the traditional advice is  “Don’t travel, Don’t sign contracts. Don’t marry. Don’t touch electrics!”  But the whole Mercury retrograde cycle actually lasts eight weeks and happens three times, sometimes even four times in a year! That’s a long time to hide under the duvet and a real waste of a truly magical time. Mercury generally zips between two worlds, or rather, the two hemispheres of our brain. So during the retrograde period it is like Mercury has gone down into the Underworld. In the realm closer to spirit we become more right-brain orientated. It is dark, so other senses are heightened. We will feel extra sensitive here, psychic even. Everything will seem hyper-real… you will notice things you had overlooked before. This will prompt you to re-evaluate, renovate, re-invent, re-form, and reinvent. It’s true you might have to redo things, because Mercury will hit the same degree three times, but what this transit won’t l...

Major 2014 Planetary Aspects Affecting Your Life

Slower-moving outer planets are not always keenly felt in individual charts, but they tend to define eras and generations. If you keep up with astrology beyond just glancing at your personal horoscope, you're probably aware that the major aspect affecting the 2014 year of Horse as well as years 2012-2015 is the square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. The type of world events we've been seeing and e xperiencing of the early part of this decade are all manifestations of this era-defining aspect.  2014 Challenging Aspects   We will continue in 2014 to get a large dose of sudden change, technology, freedom and rebellion (Uranus) in expressed through often combative individualism (Aries) versus manipulation, underhanded dealings and covert control (Pluto) as they exist in established authority (Capricorn). Although these forces will continue to cast a shadow during most of 2014, they will intensify when the orb between the planets becomes closer. These periods wi...

Yin Yang - What It Is and Symbols

In a nutshell, Chinese Yin Yang symbols represent  perfect balance . Seemingly, the whole of Chinese philosophy stems from the concept of Yin and Yang - opposites interacting and supposedly the seed of all things. For example, evil results from an imbalance in Yin and Yang, and good comes from the two being in  harmonic  balance. To aid in understanding the  properties  belonging to each side of the symbol, I have included the following table. Each property is beneath its corresponding Yin or Yan energy. Yin and Yang Corresponding Energies Yin Yang Dark Light Matter Spirit Earth Sky Female Male Passive Active Tiger Dragon Down Up North South Water Fire Winter Summer Shade Sunlight Receptive Creative Valleys Mountains Even Numbers Odd Numbers Moon Sun Cold Heat Death Life The meaning of the characters for yin and yang, has more than just one connotation. Basically interpreted, yang means "sunny", so it corresponds to the...

Aquarius in Each of the Twelve Houses

Celestial Download Aquarius is the Waterbearer, that's depicted on the Star card in tarot. Cosmic currents flow in, to awaken, inspire and act as a beacon on the distant horizon. At the New Moon in Aquarius, we catch sight of a possible future. It's a vision of a different way to think and be, that at first can seem odd, strange. Look to the house, where cosmic Aquarius (Sun-Moon) energies are swirling. This is your scene for breakthroughs and web of allies, like minds and rallying for a cause. It's where you're apt to be radical, a word meaning "of roots" -- you're acting from your unique essence, instead of conforming to the norms. Aquarius New Moon in the  First House : (House of Aries and Mars) New Moon wishes to do with your self-image -- your look and personality. Look for fresh combinations, and spend time with those that celebrate your eccentricities. Aquarius in the first, as your rising sign, gives you a friendly, but cool...
