Tuesday's Leo New Moon is yet another potent lunation in the recent series. The reasons why this occasion in mid-Leo is strong are partly the aspects made to the outer planets from the Sun and Moon, and from Jupiter in Cancer. At the time of the late afternoon New Moon, while the Sun and Moon trine Uranus, Jupiter is exactly opposite to Pluto and the Moon is in parallel with Saturn and Neptune. Given that all the outer planets are activated, the emphasis from the previous month on Saturn and Neptune— which still are in their strong trine connection — is continued into August, and a touch of a highlighting on the forming Uranus-Pluto square coming up in the fall is added. This leads to experiencing at least a nudge – if not more of a shove – on the part of the universe, meant to determine us to recognize where we have to take a different turn in our lives for constructive change, and get on with it already!
On November 1st of this year Uranus and Pluto come once again into their perfect square. As they reach this extremely potent alignment, getting closer and closer over the next twelve weeks, the evolutionary pressure upon us increases. Mustering all the courage that we dispose of, we are facing the challenge to become all that we can become, the best versions of ourselves, this time on the level of earthly, physical existence.
As Uranus closes on a semi-sextile aspect with Chiron, the New Moon is also in close inconjunct with this planetoid in Pisces, which is another indication of the fraught times that we are living through. Corresponding to the archetype of the Wounded Healer, Chiron indicates the stuck places within us that need to shift in order to leave place for true healing. Chiron's emphasis at the moment could also be seen as representing that while personal transformation is necessary and beneficial, and feels like the right thing once we have made a drastic change and launched ourselves on a completely new pathway forward, it is likely that some painful feelings may come along as we are preparing to make the shift. As astrologer Rick Levine metaphorically explains this idea, the butterfly is a beautiful creature, and an exceptionally important and worthwhile transformation needed by the organism in order to survive, but it's not an enjoyable experience for the caterpillar.
We all find ourselves in an important transition to the person that we may eventually become. And yet, as we dwell upon our wounding and our feelings of lack, we oftentimes worry about not already being there. If we were to define life, we could consider it a journey, one that we can hopefully constantly forge into a voyage of discovery that follows an upward motion toward the higher purpose which we all hold inside.
Jupiter’s Sabian symbol at the 10th degree of Cancer during this first part of the month, in opposition to Pluto, is "A large diamond not completely cut." This may apply to each one of us in our various stages of imperfection. Recognizing the diamond in the making instead of dwelling on the imperfection, that is the real challenge.
